RETURN TO ROUTINE INTRODUCTION

Whether you’ve recently adopted, or your dog has been a part of your family for years, the time is now to start coming up with a plan and introducing your dog to a new schedule to help them adjust.

HERE ARE THE BASICS TO GET STARTED WITH YOUR RETURN TO ROUTINE PLANS

  1. Expect a change in your schedule? Start setting expectations with your dog now. Leave for short periods of time so your dog will learn to expect your return.
  2. Slowly build up the length of time you are away, working up to a typical schedule when you’re away from home. Check out our Crate Training Resource Guide for more crate training basics.
  3. Please note that it may take some effort to set up a smooth transition – the time will be worth it to provide your pet with comfort and encouragement in this change in schedule.

Remember, your pet may love having you home, but they will need enrichment to keep them from getting bored while you are away: watch the next videos for some ideas!
