Volunteers of the Month single view | PAWS Chicago

Stephanie Bilzor

After 17 years working as an industrial engineer, Stephanie Bilzor left her job and started looking for a fulfilling way to spend some of her free time.

“I have a soft spot for animals who need a little extra care, and I really appreciate organizations that do the work to save them. Volunteering with PAWS was a great opportunity to help animals using my nerdy computer skills,” said Stephanie.

As part of our Volunteer Operational Support Team, Stephanie uses her tech background to keep our lifesaving programs running smoothly.

Stephanie is an administrative guru, helping with pulling lists, creating complex reports and ensuring our databases are clean and accurate.

This is the business and numbers side of a No Kill organization, and it’s essential to providing exceptional care on the massive scale that we do.

While Stephanie does most of her volunteering remotely, her life is still full of furry friends who serve as constant inspiration.

“Over the years, my husband and I have adopted five pets and fostered half a dozen. I kept thinking how lucky we were to end up with the best animals. Now, I think it's probably that all animals are the best, and they just need to find their perfect families where they can thrive.”

Stephanie and her husband will be moving across the country this summer but, thankfully, we won’t be losing her as part of the team.

“I'm so happy and grateful to be able to continue volunteering remotely from wherever we end up in the future.”

Interested in becoming a volunteer like Stephanie? We definitely have a role for you.

“All the PAWS people I’ve met have been so kind, friendly, and helpful. Plus, there's something for everyone, based on what you want to get out of your experience. Do it!” says Stephanie.
