1. How long have you been volunteering with PAWS Chicago? What originally drew you to the organization?

I have been a volunteer at the LPAC PAWS facility since February 2018. I've always been aware of PAWS, but what really got my attention was a family member that had adopted two cats from here. She talked highly about PAWS No Kill mission, and I thought how fun it would be to participate in such a worthy organization. Being a big animal lover, I knew that volunteering here would be a perfect fit.

2. Which PAWS Chicago programs/areas do you volunteer in and why?

I spend my time in Dog Town doing multiple different tasks needed – from walking these awesome dogs and puppies and showing them TLC, to cleaning their rooms so they can have a nice environment to play, relax, and sleep. I also tend to involve myself helping keep the laundry and the food/water bowls washed.

3. Do you have a favorite experience or memory from your time volunteering?

In all honesty, I don't have a "favorite" memory because every time I come to PAWS is truly an enjoyable new experience. Not very often do you see the same animals at the shelter in a weeks' span. That in itself is the most rewarding; knowing they were adopted to a loving family into a forever home.

4. What motivates you to continue volunteering with PAWS Chicago?

It is always a sincere pleasure to come volunteer here at PAWS because I'm helping in some capacity in the top flight effort for the well being of all these animals; whether it be the dogs or cats. Plus all the people here from regular staff to all the other volunteers are truly motivated equally, which creates a great working environment.

5. Do you have any advice for someone who is considering becoming a volunteer?

If you have a love for animals and want to involve yourself in something that is geared for a phenomenal cause, then it is a great way to spend some free time. It's very satisfying knowing your effort is helping these soon-to-be family pets find a new home. Also the relationships you develop with all the people here is second-to-none. There is something here for anyone interested; its a blast!
