"Pick a day and time that you'll be able to stick with, and if you’re doing something routine, break it up with something fun - like playing with puppies!"

How long have you been volunteering with PAWS Chicago? What originally drew you to the organization?
I've been volunteering at PAWS for about 15 years now.  I started after I saw PAWS on TV helping pets stranded by Hurricane Katrina.  PAWS was the only southside organization I saw, and I wanted to support them while staying relatively close to home.

Which PAWS Chicago programs/areas do you volunteer in and why?
At first I walked dogs, cleaned cages and did personality testing, but as I got older, I slowed down some and now spend most of my time in the laundry/spa area at the Medical Center.

Do you have a favorite experience or memory from your time volunteering?
As for favorite experience/memory, I guess that would be the first time I saw Golden Girl, Coqui or Cora – all of whom I started out fostering and wound up adopting.

What motivates you to continue volunteering with PAWS Chicago?
My motivation for continuing?  I like the people and the cause.  And there's never an end to the dirty laundry!

Do you have any advice for someone who is considering becoming a volunteer?
Pick a day and time that you'll be able to stick with, and if you’re doing something routine, break it up with something fun--like playing with puppies!
