Fosters of the Week
Please help us. Foster volunteers help save more lives!
By fostering a homeless pet, you enable PAWS Chicago to have greater space at our Rescue & Recovery Center to save more animals. You also enable long-term pets or those who have trouble adjusting to shelter life, to enjoy life in a home environment until they are ready for adoption. Many puppies, kittens, dogs and cats are sitting at the city pound, uncertain of their fates. The more animals we can take in, the more lives we can save.
Puppies and Kittens
All puppies and kittens who arrive at PAWS Chicago have under-developed immune systems. Fosters provide puppies and kittens with a safe haven for two weeks, giving them time to grow and develop. Once they are healthy enough to receive vaccinations and their spay/neuter surgery, they make their way to the Adoption Shelter.

Events
PAWS Chicago hosts several adoption events throughout the year and often needs fosters who can provide a short-term home to cats, dogs, kittens and puppies in advance of these events. Event fosters provide a loving home to these pets and coordinate with PAWS team members to arrange animal drop-off at the event site.

Sick Animals at Animal Care & Control Need Your Help!
Each week, PAWS Chicago’s Intake team sees many dogs who are suffering from upper respiratory infections(aka kennel cough) at the city pound. In order to rescue them, PAWS Chicago needs foster families who can provide temporary housing for these sweet pups as they recover. Because there are a limited number of isolation rooms at PAWS Chicago’s Rescue & Recovery Center which are regularly at capacity, the number of dogs with upper respiratory that we can take in is also limited. With support from foster families, PAWS Chicago can save more lives from the city pound. An ideal foster home will have no other canines in the household to prevent transmission of this infection to other dogs.
