Run for Gilda, a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix who was left outside in the heat with her two newborn puppies, Steffi and Annika. Emaciated and in need of a safe place to care for her puppies, the family was transferred from Animal Care & Control to PAWS Chicago where they are recovering in a foster home until they are ready for adoption.
Run for Little Kevin, a 13-week-old kitten who was brought to Animal Care & Control when his owners could no longer care for him. Alone and nervous,

Run for the 4,000 homeless pets who will be rescued, healed and adopted to new families through PAWS Chicago this year.
Run because one day, together, we will build a No Kill community where pets will no longer be killed because they are homeless.
PAWS Chicago is the city’s largest No Kill humane organization. Through a solutions-based approach, PAWS Chicago’s lifesaving work has helped place Chicago on track to become a No Kill city in the next five years. Since PAWS Chicago’s founding in 1997, the number of homeless pets euthanized in the city each year has dropped by more than 50 percent: from 42,561 to less than 19,000 in 2009.
PAWS Chicago’s cageless Adoption & Humane Center at 1997 N. Clybourn in Lincoln Park is a national model for quality care. The Center is on track to find new homes for more than 4,000 homeless animals through 2010.
PAWS Chicago's Lurie Clinic provides free and subsidized spay/neuter surgeries for pets of families who could not otherwise afford the procedure, performing more than 16,000 surgeries each year.
