Hello, I'm Ursa

She is an all around sweet dog that we are so happy (and count ourselves lucky) to have adopted her from PAWS Chicago.

Ursa's Story

Hello!  Good afternoon, can't believe it has already been 2 weeks!

We have kept Ursa's name.  It was one of the things that drew us to her.  As you probably know, Ursa means "bear" in Latin.  It also means "bear" in Portuguese.  I am fluent in Portuguese so we saw it as a sign that we should apply for her.  Also, my brother's dog is named Bear and they look a lot alike, so the signs just kept rolling in!
Ursa is adjusting well.  She fell in love with our 15 year old cat named Kitty almost immediately.  Kitty has not quite fallen in love as fast but he is warming up to her.  They will nap next to each other during the day, so we call it a win!
She also has my husband wrapped around her little paw. She really knows how to play to her audience!  Haha.
Ursa is deaf, so we started training with her immediately.  We found a trainer that also has a deaf dog and we have had 2 sessions over Zoom with her.  Ursa is showing progress!  She now knows the signs for sit and lay down.
Her favorite thing to do is to play with her toy bear stuff animal, Ursão (means "big bear" in Portuguese).  She loves to play tug and enjoys a peanut butter kong as an afternoon snack.
She is an all around sweet dog that we are so happy (and count ourselves lucky) to have adopted her from PAWS Chicago.
I have attached a couple of pictures of Ursa.
Thanks for everything!
