Hello, I'm Ares

He is a very snuggly, loving, wiggly guy.

Ares's Story

Today marks exactly two weeks since I first brought Teddy (formerly known as Ares) home. He is a very snuggly, loving, wiggly guy. I feel so lucky to have him and he brings so much joy. He gets along great with every person and dog that he meets. For my roommates and myself, he definitely loves to catch us in a belly rub trap after luring us in with his puppy dog eyes. We're always laughing about how he just melts into your lap as soon as he knows he's got you. Something that has been so sweet about Teddy is that he'll stay snuggled up with me at night until I fall asleep before going to his dog bed, and comes back in the morning for more snuggles when he hears my alarm. It's been the best way to start and end my days :)

Teddy loves his stuffed toys and frozen kongs. His favorite thing is receiving hugs. He spends most of his day seeking out scritches and snuggling up for naps while I work. We've had a number of firsts together, including first bathtime and nail trim (he was very brave for the nail trim!). Due to the pandemic we won't be getting to the vet until next week, but I'm looking forward to his evaluation so that we can develop a plan for increasing his activity level (longer walks and varsity playtime!) given that his heart is still on the mend from the heartworm he had in the fall. I can tell just from our short play sessions that he'll really love playing fetch sometime in the next few months.

We did sign up for a PAWS training class-- it starts next weekend! I have been figuring out what his favorite high-value treat is by offering him bits of foods my foster dogs loved. The verdict is out: he really loves cheese.
