Hello, I'm Mickey

We are so grateful to PAWS for bringing us Mick, to the other fosters for their support, and most importantly, to the medical staff for treating him like their own fur-baby.  We truly hit the jackpot!

Mickey's Story

Mick (fka Mickey) is THE most perfect addition to our little family! He was our 9th foster pup during quarantine and we had every intention of only fostering, but when we picked up those beautiful green eyes from the medical center, something just felt different.

You may not know it, but Mick had a rough start in life. In September, as a 6-month old puppy, his front leg was amputated at the PAWS Medical Center due to an injury he sustained prior to coming to PAWS, which could not heal. We had known all along that he was ours, and becoming a "tri-paw" wasn't going to change that, so we adopted Mick in October!

Mick is "velcroed" to our sides 90% of the time, but the other 10% he is wild! He has zoomies, plays with other puppers, and jumps around just as happy as any four-legged dog out there (possibly even happier now that we know he is not in pain). Mick's resilience and happiness is truly contagious. In fact, we're a little nervous he may think his name is 'Cute', because people stop him on the street to say that literally, almost everywhere we go!

When we found out Mick was going to lose his leg, we gave ourselves a day to be sad, and then we went to work to care for him. knowing in the back of our minds, we had to create some good out of it. Mick has passed Level 1 Obedience at PAWS. While we have a long way to go, our ultimate goal is for Mick to become a certified therapy dog and provide support to human amputees.
