Nadine's Story

I adopted Nadine, a shepard mix, back in 2017. My daughter fostered her after Nadine's buddy was adopted & she was extremely scared of everything. She's also the one who was trying to get us to adopt her since a week after she started fostering her. We had, & still have, a rescue black lab mix, who is very confident loving dog named Sirius Black. Siri, for short, was a puppy dump in Arkansas, we adopted her at 4 months old & enrolled this energetic puppy in obeisance class. She got her good citizenship award 6 months later. I was still working at the time but retired shortly afterwards due to back problems. 

Needless to say when my daughter told me it was time for Nadine to go back to the shelter we adopted her & called the trainer to come help with Nadine's transition. We live in the Southwest suburbs, usually very quiet neighborhood. After working with the trainer, a lot & giving her a lot of treats, things calmed down. Nadine followed Siri's cues to know what was safe & what wasn't. Nadine has made friends with everyone. She's also best friends with our granddaughter. Nadine, Siri & Ellie, our grand daughter are the same age, they will all be 6 this year. Nadine will actually put herself between our grand daughter & anything/anyone who she feels is a possible danger. Nadine let's Ellie do whatever she wants to her & doesn't make a peep. I have enclosed pictures so you can see the real Nadine, she's come a long way.
