Dolly's Story

This is a LONG overdue update on little Dolly.  She is doing great!

Since officially joining our family, Dolly has learned a lot about how to be a dog.  When she first came to us, she didn't sniff on walks, couldn't go up/down stairs, and did not know any commands.  Now, she sniffs other dogs, pees on trees, sits, gives paw, goes down, snuggles, goes for bike rides in her backpack, and a lot more!  The kids already want to foster another dog so Dolly can have a friend!

Given COVID, we have done a few virtual one-on-one training sessions and some day training through Call of the Wild.  We also found out a little about her history.  After doing some digging on the internet, we found a picture on a Facebook page of a rescue in TN from the day that Dolly was transferred from TN to Chicago.  I contacted them and confirmed that the dog was in fact, Dolly.  They informed me that they rescued her from an "irresponsible breeding operation" who was going to put her down since she stopped producing puppies.  They said she was likely kept in a cage her entire life.  We also had her DNA tested and turns out she is 100% poodle... Dolly is fancy!

Dolly is extremely attached to her mom (me)!  Her brother and sister (my kids!) really like to play with her.  We still have work to do, but overall, I think that life for Dolly is pretty good!

Attached are some pictures of Dolly (aka:  DollDoll, Dollhouse, Dolito Nugget, Dolly-Dough, Nugi-Dough).
