Tolkien's Story

If in doubt, follow your nose. A phrase that Tolkien could’ve written himself! Tolkien is smart, friendly, curious, and has boundless energy! He is also familiar with clicker training. Tolkien needs lots of activity and would be more than happy to hike around Chicago with you as his guide.

Tolkien has warmed the hearts of volunteers and fosters, who would cross through Mordor to have him fall at their feet and rub his stomach. He can be protective of his things and might react if you try to take away his toys. If you are looking for an affectionate buddy to join your family, look nowhere else but Tolkien!

Meet Tolkien

Tolkien can’t wait to meet you!

If you’re interested in adopting this pet, please complete the following steps:

1. Start by taking our ComPETibility Quiz to make sure they’re a good fit for your home. Your ComPETibility Score will help you compare your home to each pet’s needs!

2. After completing your ComPETibility Quiz, you will be emailed a link to complete your Adoption Application.

3. After finishing the adoption application, complete the Adoption Inquiry Form! Once this form is submitted, our Adoption Team will take a look at your adoption inquiry and reach out within a few days.

Please note that while we can’t place holds on adoptable animals for your scheduled appointment, there are always plenty of homeless pets looking for a home! If you don’t meet the perfect pet, please feel free to complete a new Adoption Inquiry Form or visit our Adoption Center. Walk-ins are always welcome, but appointments are recommended for a more efficient visit!

Want another way to spend time with our adoptable (or soon-to-be-adoptable) pets? Consider fostering.
