Occupation/title/what you do: Grad student
What motivated you to join the PAWS Chicago
Marathon team? I was motivated to join the PAWS Chicago
marathon team because I wanted to fundraise for the cause, but also challenge
myself at the same time. Meanwhile, I get to train with fellow PAWS supporters
and get to know more people that are a part of this great organization!
Is this your first marathon? It is
my first marathon-eek!
On mile 20, what will you think of to keep going?
At mile 20, the look on the pups faces I have seen waiting patiently for homes
will be pushing me to the finish line. Especially the look
I got when I went to PAWS to foster my very first dog-which was adopted by my
boyfriend and I the very next day. We love him so much and I am dedicating this
marathon to my PAWS pup and others who desperately need the love we give him
everyday.
What obstacles/fears/challenges are you overcoming
by running the marathon? I used to be a competitive runner, but
developed tendinitis in my hip flexors and was told running was not in the cards
for me anymore. Since then, I have slowly built up to running short distances
and have
competed in some 5k and 10k races, but never been able to go any further.
However, completing a marathon is on my list of things to do before I die and I
am taking this opportunity to check my first item off of that list hip
tendinitis aside! Anything for the animals!
Why PAWS Chicago? I have been lucky
to become involved with such an amazing organization
like PAWS Chicago through my ever-supportive family. It is an incredibly unique
organization, supported by so many devoted animal lovers who just want to save
pets lives and will do anything to make that happen. The new adoption center is
phenomenal-unlike anything I have ever seen- and in order to support its daily
operation, I will forever be a part of the PAWS family.
