Jennifer Cobb
Age: 35
Occupation/title/what you do: FT Homemaker, Mommy, Wife and all
around domestic goddess.
What motivated you to join the PAWS Chicago
Marathon team? It's
been a dream of mine, for some time, to compete in the Chicago Marathon. When
the opportunity presented itself to run on behalf of PAWS, I knew this was the
year. Having previously worked for PAWS at the Lurie Family Spay and Neuter
Clinic, I've seen first hand how important the work that PAWS does is to the
community and most importantly the animals. Our family has also been personally
touched by a PAWS "angel", a furry feline baby by the name of Echo. She is such
an important part of our family, that I want to do my part to make sure that
other dogs and cats have the same opportunity to find loving homes, (and thought
the marathon would be a fun way to do so).
Is this your first marathon?
Yes, this will be my first full marathon and I'm shaking in my Mizunos!
On mile 20, what will you think of to keep going?
I'll be thinking of the commitment I made to all the PAWS animals, as well as
all the friends and family that are sharing this journey with me, (and of course
when the heck will this race be over and where's my cheeseburger and pint).
What obstacles/fears/challenges are you
overcoming by running the marathon?
Ha... see number one; this body isn't what it use to be!
Why PAWS Chicago? PAWS has such
an amazing approach to making a true difference in the welfare of animals. They
work to educate the community on the importance of spaying and neutering pets,
they offer free and low cost spay and neuter services to the communities that
need them most and their new state of the art adoption center is setting the
standard for all animal welfare organizations to hopefully soon implement. PAWS
has shown that the dream of a no-kill society is attainable.
How did you find out about the PAWS Chicago
Marathon Team? I received an email I couldn't refuse from
the wonderful people at PAWS.
