Lisa Kaplan-Zwirn
Age: 32 but closing in on 33 (August 3rd)
Occupation/title/what you do: Real Estate Lawyer and Developer
but I'm also an aspiring writer.
What motivated you to join the PAWS Chicago
Marathon team? I want to give a voice to the voiceless. I always knew animal charities were where my heart resided. It was only a matter of choosing which one to support.
Is this your first marathon?
YES but hopefully my first of several.
On mile 20, what will you think of to keep going?
All I have to do is close my eyes and imagine the finish line. The image of
crossing that line will carry me through those last six miles. In addition, I
can't fathom disappointing all of the people who continue to support me
throughout my training.
What obstacles/fears/challenges are you
overcoming by running the marathon?
Finishing a marathon has been on my "to do" list for years! I completed a half
Ironman a few years ago and this was the next logical physical challenge, in my
opinion. I suppose I have a healthy fear of covering the distance but it's the
type of fear that will spur me on, not the type of fear that will hold me back.
I can't wait!!!
Why PAWS Chicago? The PAWS team
appears to be extremely organized. Setting up my webpage was a breeze and you
make it so easy for contributors to donate. In addition, you received a fabulous
rating from Charity Navigator so I feel confident asking my friends and family
to support PAWS on my behalf.
How did you find out about the PAWS Chicago
Marathon Team? I saw a poster up at Starbucks in Roscoe Village.
The second I read it, I knew I would run for PAWS.
