What motivated you to join the PAWS Chicago
Marathon team? I knew I wanted to run for charity, and I think
what PAWS does is amazing. I would adopt a dog in a heartbeat, but unfortunately
my schedule (and building) prohibits me. I also think supporting a cause and
running with a group provides the motivation I'll need when doing those long
early morning runs!Is this your first marathon?
Yes, I've done a few halves but this is my first "real deal"!
On mile 20, what will you think of to keep going?
The finish line, beer, a massage, and a nice long nap!
What obstacles/fears/challenges are you overcoming
by running the marathon? Running a marathon is something I've
always wanted to do, but there's has always been a fear of not finishing. I also
have a really busy work schedule and long commute, so fitting in training has
always been a concern. This year I just decided to go for it, and I'm really
excited that I did! I'm a little "out of shape" at the moment, so I'm counting
on the first couple of runs (and the nice weather) to kick my butt back into
gear :)
Why PAWS Chicago?
I am an avid dog lover and wanted to do something to help. The innocent dogs and
cats don't have a voice, so we need to bring attention to the cause for them.
Plus, I recently had to put down my childhood dog (he was 17!), so I like to
think about what a good life he had and how I am making that possible for other
animals.
How did you find out about the PAWS Chicago
Marathon Team? I was looking at the list of official
charities for the marathon, and was sold at first sight!
