Marie Pospichal
Age: 33
Occupation/title/what you do: Senior
Development Officer; Fundraising for Children’s Memorial Hospital
What motivated you to join the PAWS Chicago
Marathon team? I have started volunteering for PAWS recently
and have always wanted to run a marathon for an animal-related cause. Is this your first marathon?
This will be my third; I ran my last two in 2006 and 2007. Running marathons
gets addicting and my competitive spirit comes out when I run. My sister
convinced me to sign up for the marathon two years ago, I remember being so
nervous about the whole thing. Now here I am training for my third…..
On mile 20, what will you think of to keep going?
That I only have an hour left to finish the race. Also, beer and the food are
huge motivators for finishing the race!
What obstacles/fears/challenges are you overcoming
by running the marathon? Right now I can only run 4 miles (I
haven’t run all winter), so running and finishing the marathon will be a
challenging goal for me.
Why PAWS Chicago? I have always
wanted to run for an animal-related cause. I fully support no-kill shelters. I
believe that raising money for PAWS will ensure that more animals get adopted.
How did you find out about the PAWS Chicago
Marathon Team? I saw the flier when I was volunteering at
PAWS.
