Petco Foundation and Hill’s Science Diet satisfy animal hunger through PAWS Chicago Pet Food Bank

Petco and the Petco Foundation – longtime supporters of PAWS Chicago – and Hill’s Science Diet recently donated more than 10,000 pounds – or five tons – of dog and cat food to the PAWS Chicago Pet Food Bank. The program was created in 2008, with the support of the Petco Foundation, to help prevent adding to the population of Chicago’s homeless pets. Faced with financial hardship, families often give up their pets when they can’t afford to feed or care for them. In only a few short years, more than 2,000 pets have been saved from entering the shelter system, thanks to food bank support.
The 10,000 pounds is part of a matching donation that Hill’s committed to Petco and the Petco Foundation’s National Pet Food Drive in 2011. For the second year in a row, Hill’s Science Diet matched, pound for pound, every bag of Hill’s Science Diet donated during the drive.
