October 16 is National Feral Cat Day!
 At
the PAWS Chicago Lurie Family Spay/Neuter Clinic we spay and
neuter feral cats for FREE all year round. Rabies vaccine, ear tipping, a dose
of penicillin, Droncit dewormer and Revolution flea and tick preventative are
included for only $17. (If you live in one of our targeted twelve zip codes or
are on public assistance there is no charge.)

*A feral cat is an
unsocialized cat. Either he was born outside and never lived with a human
family, or he is a house cat that has strayed from home , and over time, has
thrown off the effects of domestication and reverted to a wild state. Feral
cats avoid human contact. Adult ferals are like wildlife. They usually cannot
be socialized and are most content living outside.

Step 1 - TRAP - Trap
the kitty in a humane trap. (Call the Lurie Family Spay Neuter Clinic
773-521-7729 if you need to rent a humane trap, traps are subject to
availability.)
Step 2 - SPAY/NEUTER
Bring the kitty in the humane trap to the clinic at 3516 W 26th Street between
7:15AM and 9:00AM on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday any day, year
round for spay/neuter surgery- pick up the kitty at 5:00PM that same day.
(Please note there is a five feral limit per customer per day – for this
special FREE Feral Day offer there is a limit of 2 ferals per customer, per day
- kitties must weigh at least two pounds - and must not be fed after 8PM the
night before.)
Step 3 - RETURN -
release the kitty within two days (making sure there is a caretaker who will
continue to monitor and feed the kitty) aftercare instructions will be provided.
Step 4- Feel great
about being a part of the pet overpopulation solution!
Feral Cat Caretakers will
