Hey PAWS,
Both of the cats have been doing really well. We did give them the new names of Mickey (PAWS name Odie) and Mishou (PAWS name Sweet Pea). It took us a few days to settle on a type of cat food that they both liked, but since that initial week, they both have been eating very well. No major problems as far as behavior goes. They have a
scratching post and several toys, and seem to have a good idea of where they are and are not allowed to be. Last week, we were out of town for two days and our neighbor came in to
feed and look in on them, and they seem to have done perfectly okay! Thanks, Alex Obregon

Hi PAWS Chicago -
Bella and Jelly Bean are doing great! She's still Bella and I have been calling him just "JB." I just happen to have a new picture of them. Their story goes something like this: Bella is JB's mom. They were in separate foster homes for about three months, but they have been getting along just great since they were reunited!  Bella was a young mom; she's about a year and half old, and JB's about nine months old now. That's

good though because they are both very playful. They love to chase all sorts of toys and to wrestle with each other too. They are such a lot of fun! (And they have also been great foot warmers on these cold nights that we've been having!) - Sherri Ruppel

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Adina, who is now called Peanut, is doing great. She seems to respond very well to her new name "Peanut." She gets along great with our twin one and a half year old girls. It's almost as if we have triplets because Peanut loves to play and get into mischief along with the girls! She can be very sweet at times and then a bit frisky. I guess she's still a kitten at heart. We got her a cat tree, which allows her to have some alone time as
well. Thanks again. - Charissa, Kelly, Mia and Luna

Duffy (PAWS name Elder)

Hi PAWS,
Elder and Boo are doing great!  We have changed their names: Elder is now called Duffy and Boo is now called Holly. They are very sweet and affectionate kitties, especially Duffy. He likes to cuddle against my head at bedtime, while Holly prefers to sleep curled against my legs. They also like to chase each other up and

Holly (PAWS name Boo)

down the  hallway of my apartment, and they're wild about a "glitter stick" toy that I bought at Noah's Ark! Best regards, Kathie

Hi PAWS Chicago!
Sagan (formally Macy) is doing extremely well!  We started puppy class about four weeks ago and she is the star pupil. We have also had two vet visits so far and she is healthy and happy. She has gained about seven pounds since you last saw her! Her favorite toy is a squeaky platypus, but she also loves playing fetch with a large plush duck, as well. Hope you are doing well! Thanks for your help.
- Tracie D. Mayfield

  Hi PAWS Chicago -
Beryl (formerly Tapioca) is doing well. About a month after adopting her, we got her a little friend because it seemed like she would do better if she had someone to keep her company while we were at work. Beryl and Tiffy, the 4-month old kitty, get along really well.  They love playing and snuggling together while we are around and probably enjoy sleeping and being
mischievous when we are gone. Beryl really likes water and always sits on the edge of the bathtub during bath and shower times. Attached are a couple pictures: Beryl stretching while yawning and Beryl and Tiffy snuggling. Thanks so much for everything!
- Lindsey

PAWS,
Madison is still doing great! She has graduated from Bootcamp at
www.dopadogs.com and took second place in her class for Basic
Obedience! She just started a 14-week intermediate class. Thanks again to everyone at PAWS for doing a great job. I attached a picture that was taken right before the sub zero temps!
- Jay

Hi PAWS,
Everything is going really well with Nutella. I now call her Tella, and I think the previous owner called her that as well. I've attached a picture of where she likes to lay while I work. Thanks again for everything; she's great!
- Dusti

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Puma, now named Henry, is fantastic. Ted, my first cat, and Henry are best friends and are always playing. They took a brief break to cuddle for this picture.
Thanks!
Anna Abramovitch

Hi PAWS!
Sophie (PAWS name Josephine) has become a huge part of our life and we could not imagine life without her in a million years. She is funny, very intelligent demonstrated both by her ability to learn (she is enrolled at K9 in puppy classes and well on her way with her sit, come, down, stay and drop - of course while playing ball), as well as her intuitive sense for figuring out what you want her to
do. Her vet visit went well, and we are working on ear cleanings and teeth brushing :) Sophie loves her crate and pillows. She sleeps in front of the fire especially after 'play' dates or days at the day care, and her favorite toys are a rubber toy shoe along with a ball that holds treats. Sophie and her friend Charlie (another PAWS adoptee from last year by our good friends) spend at least two days a week playing together.  They are so much fun to watch - even more so when they finally fall asleep after play!  Thanks for a great experience.  She has been a true joy and a great addition to our little family. - Susa & Alex

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Haylee (PAWS name Holly) is thriving, and we are continuing to experiment with creative ways to separate her from the cat and keep both happy while we're not around. She loves her walks, loves her treats and has gained the weight she needed. We look forward to strolls and swims along the lakefront and trips to Michigan in the summer. Thank you for all your help. She is a wonderful blessing so

is your entire team!  One of her more peaceful moments is included in the picture I have attached. - Brian Mroczek & Paul Dyba

Hi PAWS!
Tony & Tina (the wobblers) are back in Chicago! They continue to get around just fine despite having cerebella hyperplasia. In fact, they have a new brother named Doodlebug (the orange one) who was also rescued. Doodlebug doesn't mind their wobbles and falls, and they don't mind that injuries in his past life that have now left him deaf. As you can see, they get along great! Thanks for giving the wobblers and
other special needs cats a chance at a great life. - Kim Boggs

Dear PAWS Chicago,
I wanted to send an update on Ashley, an orange and white tabby kitten that I adopted in September from 26th Street. Ashley was one of the kittens rescued from the Mississippi Katrina rescue trip. I renamed her Scarlett. She is doing wonderful. She has become good pals with my other cat Oscar. Scarlett loves to sleep near me at night and she loves to play-wrestle with Oscar. Oscar has

become a father figure for her I think. She is a very sweet cat, and I couldn't imagine my life without her. Thanks for not forgetting about all of the homeless Katrina animals! Sincerely, Marlena Gustafson

Hello PAWS!
Howie is a famous baby! He was highlighted on NBC Channel 5 News last night here in his new home!  Howie has made himself very comfortable in our living room chair.  In addition, he took over the spare bed his first night with us! He is part of our family, and we love him so much. Its hard to leave him alone. Soon he will start his training so he will walk better and not pull on his walks and learn to stay. I just wish
we new when his birthday was but we will pick a day. Thanks, Gina

Hi!
Please find a picture of our newest baby! We renamed Xena to Madison. She has adjusted extremely well and is such a joy for everyone in family. She has the most animated antics; I'd forgotten how much fun a new one could be. Again, we love her so much!
Sincerely,
The Green Family

Hi PAWS!
Attached is New Years Day at the Johnson's house. Gracie (former PAWS name Nana) is lying on the couch. She kind of like velcro at times. Thanks again for the little gray & white critter; she is a hoot!
- Bonny Johnson

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Hello!  I wanted to send you another picture of Jeppy (PAWS name Thomas), whom I adopted this past summer.  Here he is sleeping in his favorite spot,: our towel box in the bathroom.  He loves it there and, as you can see, is a real cutie!!
Thanks again!
Joanna

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Cooper is doing great! He is fitting in quite well with his older (and much larger) sister Sable and we couldn't be happier! He is adjusting quite well. His hair is growing back and the vet said he is one happy and healthy pup.  Attached is a picture of our little guy as he settles into his new life. We cannot thank PAWS enough for saving this little guy and guiding us into his life. Thanks for all of
your help! - Danni and Liz

Hi PAWS!
I thought you might like to know that Flynn (adopted out in March 2005)may soon be Famous Flynn! I've developed a new running service for dogs and Flynn was the inspiration! It's the first offering of it's kind in Chicago, and there will be an article coming out soon in the Sunday Chicago Tribune about Flynn and me. His story, along with a PAWS link, is on my website... www.chicagodogrunner.com  Kind of cool, no?
Best, David

Hello PAWS,
Here is the latest picture of Yukon, whom I've renamed Gus. He's doing great! He's such a little ball of energy. I've been lucky to be able to take him to work with me. He loves people and is our employee of the month, displaying his superb greeting skills! He's enrolled in puppy classes beginning in February. Last visit to the Vet he weighed in at a whopping 15 pounds! He's grown a lot since I adopted him. His eyes stayed one
blue and one brown; it's so cute. Thank you so much for the opportunity to adopt Gus. He's such a joy to take care of. I enjoyed working with everyone at PAWS; you're such a great organization. - Sue Papedis & GUS!

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Shadow is such a wonderful asset. She teaches our other girl, Greenbay how to do things, and in turn Greenbay has taught her how to sit for treats. Shadow also knows how to fetch and is still working on giving paws and high five.
Thanks!
Debbie Cornelius

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Sydney (changed from PAWS name Scarlette) is doing just fine. She has become part of the family. Sydney and McCoy (our other dog) would wrestle all day long if we let them. She is very affectionate and has a great personality. Thanks again for helping us find Sydney. We can't imagine our lives without her. We would recommend PAWS to anyone looking to adopt a pet.
- Kim and Mary Jo

We adopted Joseph at Angels With Tails on Armitage late in August, but we changed his name to Oisin. (It's an Irish name, pronounced ahsheen, which translates to "son of the warrior".)  He's a great puppy, and he successfully completed puppy school late last year. We will be starting him in some agility classes soon.  He brings us nothing but love and we just adore him!
Thanks, Jenn & Paul

Hi PAWS,
We are absolutely thrilled with our adoption experience. First I want to
tell you your facility on 26th Street is amazing, and the staff who work there are all very good and helpful people! Thank you for doing what you do! We have renamed Lipton. His new name is Jozo, which is a pet form of the name Joseph, in Croatian. Jozo is doing extremely well!  He had no problems adapting to his new home, and he is busy, busy, busy exploring all the new things life has to offer. He and our 3-year-old cat, Pasha, are
getting along remarkably even after only one week of not being separated. In fact, last night my husband and I spotted Pasha grooming Jozo's neck. Thanks again for making this possible. Best, Amy Pavelich

Hey PAWS!
Trapper (PAWS name Roscoe) is doing wonderful! He loves to play fetch, go on walks, "people-watch" from the front window, go on car rides (except to the vet!), and snuggle with us. He also has quite a taste for socks, tissue, and the stuffing in his puppy beds. We frequently take him with us on weekends to Wisconsin and he just loves it!  He also likes to visit Grandma and Grandpa's house to play with his "Uncle Radar" whenever possible (a 4-year-old Brittany Spaniel). We are grateful every day for our Katrina Pup, Trapper. - Wendy & Kris

To all of our friends at PAWS,
Scrappy and Piper are doing great! They have really taken over the
apartment and love chasing each other from room to room. Scrappy enjoys taking naps by the window, chasing her stuffed mouse, and wrestling with her sister. Piper loves playing fetch with paper balls, getting belly rubs, and napping in the clothes basket. We are very attached to these two lovable girls are are very happy to have them
in our home. Thanks so much! - Holly and Craig

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Just wanted to write in with an update on Huck. He's doing very well in his new home. He's adapting to his new surroundings and his new mom. We are on week 3 of obedience training at K9 University and Huck is often used as the "demo dog" because of his prior experience there. He LOVES his dog bed, "helping" me make dinner and "joining" in
on exercising, walking down the alleyways (every trash can is a wonder to behold!), and waking me up in the morning with a kiss. I am so glad I adopted him. It is truly the best thing I've ever done! Thanks to everyone at PAWS for taking such good care of him.
Sincerely, Tracy VanSlyke

Dear PAWS,
Martini (also now called Zikr) and I are getting to know each other more each day. She is very smart!  I'm trying to learn her schedule. She loves to go out all the time and play in the snow. She is calming down and is very good at night. I have left her in the crate several times and she is ok with it. She always goes directly to her crate for her treats after we go walking. She also loves to ride in my car, which is wonderful. I want to thank all of you for all you are giving the dogs and cats under your care and for the care you showed me.
- Emory Mead, Zikr's dad

PAWS,
Pippin (PAWS name Dice) is a real sweetheart. I have never been more crazy about any kitten as I am this one. He is the most affectionate little squirt: sweet, playful, always wanting attention. He also loves to lick my chin and follows me in and out of every room, never hesitating to find a warm place with me in bed. I have had five strays throughout my years- "Patches" was always my affectionate cat that never left my
side. I could never imagine another to replace him in my heart. To my surprise, Pippin hasn't replaced the love I will always have for Patches but never has a kitten been more entertaining and loving.  I sincerely thank you again for all the joy he continues to bring into my life. The bond that you saw that day when I adopted him is even bigger today. - Judy Dollarhide

Hi PAWS!
Langdon's new name is now Simon and he's doing great! We finished obedience class in December, and I definitely recommend the woman we trained with named Rendy from Anything Is Pawsible. Simon is perfect for us. He's a smart boy and loves all the dogs he meets. We're so happy to have him in our lives. Thanks for rescuing him and providing us with such a great joy!
- Hillary and Aaron

Hi PAWS,
Moya is now known as Chula, which is Spanish for cute. She is doing really great! We love her so very much, and she certainly lives up to her new name. I attached a picture from Christmas. The other Chihuahua on the left is my mother's pup named Pepe LePu, who Chula loves to play with. Thanks for everything!
- Lisa  & Scott Gilbert

Hi PAWS,
Things are going very well with us! I renamed Ace; his name is now Cabeza. He does wonderful at the dog park. I live about ½ mile from a great outdoor dog play area where he runs, jumps, and chases all the other dogs. He also loves to play catch. It's so cute: he'll come over by me just to say hi real quick and then dash off to his new doggie friends. All the other people at the dog park compliment me on his great manners and of
course how adorable he is. I tell them I got him from PAWS and people always say "Oh, PAWS, they're great, aren't they?!" Thanks again for all your help in bringing him into my life. :) He's a much-needed bright spot. Sincerely, Melissa & Cabeza

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Everything is going great with Madison. We have elected to keep her PAWS name but sometimes call her by Maddy. She is socializing well with other dogs. She is graduating from obedience class this Sunday. Maddy will be continuing advanced obedience classes and private training for the next 8 weeks. Maddy has mastered the "sit," "down," and "stay" commands even with many social distractions around her. She can be
placed in a room and not acknowledge another person unless she is instructed to move. I'm extremely happy with her progress. I would like to thank PAWS for everything your organization does. I feel special coming across Madison since I've owned a Neapolitan Mastiff before. I never thought of adoption. I've always decided which dog I wanted, found a breeder and came home with my puppy. After this experience I'll always look to rescue. I also have been telling everyone about PAWS! Thanks, Jay Davis

Hi PAWS!
We just wanted to forward you a photo of Frederick in his new home (Frederick on the right, with Sophie our 7 year old Brittany on the left). They both get along very well. We were very thankful to have Frederick here with us this Christmas and are grateful to PAWS Chicago for being there for pets like Frederick. Again, thanks to everyone at PAWS. Happy Holidays! - Mark, Nancy, Kevin & Ryan McMullen
