Luna

Luna, a Pit Bull mix, came to PAWS Chicago from Animal Care & Control after being seized in a cruelty case. However, despite her emaciated condition and scars, she was a happy, loving girl and who would be a devoted and loving companion to her future family.

Eventually, Luna was adopted into her forever family who committed to working with her in training classes, given her background of abuse and neglect, so that she would blossom into her true self. They enrolled Luna in a behavior class and watched as she became a new dog.  She started to learn self-restraint and how to stay and to wait, and more importantly, Luna started to learn how to be around other dogs.

According to Luna’s adopters, “Judging from the scars that mark her face, neck, legs and back, we could tell that her life had been far from easy. Luna knew very little about the world outside.  She didn’t know how to go up and down stairs and she was afraid of walks.  She did not know any commands and was fearful of everything. However, after a few weeks, Luna started to build up confidence.  She learned how to run up and down the stairs and tell us when she needed to go outside.

In the house, Luna is our constant companion.  She loves to be where we are and at night, she snuggles up on her pillow next to the couch as we watch movies.  Having Luna in our house has transformed the whole feeling of our home, making it a much livelier place to come home to at the end of the day.”
