Carlo and Cecila

Carlo (Big Roy) and Cecilia (Maui) here to send you a quick note about our new home. We live in a one bedroom apartment, but pretty much the whole place is ours except for Mommy’s bedroom. She has a hard time sleeping, and our sleep-wake schedule would really make it hard for her to get enough rest to teach 5th graders in the morning. We don’t mind, though, because we get lots of cuddle, snuggle, and play time with her when she’s awake.

Mommy calls me, Cecilia, Meowsers sometimes because I have trouble making meowing noises and I sound a little bit funny. I don’t mind, though, because she always knows what a need when I speak up. I have a very good life because I live with a boy, Carlo, who Mommy sometimes calls Snowball because he looks just like the cats from the Simpsons, and he is handicapable so I get to help him run, jump, and play so that he gets enough exercise. Also, he loves to make sure I’m clean and gives me lots of licks to make sure. I’m a serious cuddle bug, and I know that I can get all the snuggles I want when Mommy lies down on the couch. She pets me for hours! My favorite place to be pet is the top of my head. I can be very naughty sometimes, but Mommy has taught me that if she says, ‘HEY,’ that I need to stop doing what I’m doing. I am very curious, but I respect Mommy’s boundaries. My favorite thing to do is look out the window at our neighbors who shout, ‘HELLO, CECILIA!’ to me.

For me, Carlo, I have the perfect life. Because I was supposed to die of parovirus but have damage to my cerebellum and am ataxic, instead, I wobble instead of walk, hop like a ferret instead of run, and fall down a lot. Cecilia helps me work on my muscles and balance by racing and playing with me, and Mommy uses toys to help me with my coordination. I love to give clean people and cats with my tongue, and Cecilia is very happy to oblige and someimtes Mommy is, too. It turns out that I didn’t like to me held and didn’t liked to be touched to much, maybe because of all my early experiences with the vet, but Mommy worked with me until I could be held a few seconds longer, and longer, and longer, until now I feel safe in her arms. Also, because of that, I’ve learned that I like to snuggle and be pet just as much as Cecilia. I have a lot more muscle knots than most cats from trying to balance and stay on 4 legs all the time, so Mommy helps me to work out the tension in my neck and back. I am a very hungry kitten, but I make sure to take turns with Cecilia to make sure that she gets enough wet food, too. My absolute favorite thing in the world is when Mommy tears a piece of the empty toilet-paper roll, rolls it up really small and tight, and throws it. I get so excited when she’s rolling it up that I fall over a lot, so Mommy makes sure I’m sitting on a rug when this happens.

Our favorite thing to do as a family is play with our fish-on-a-line. Mommy has two, one which has a shorter line, so that we both can be successful at grabbing the fish (because I’m ataxic, I can’t jump or reach like Cecilia can). We can only play this with Mommy because the fish are on a string, and we know that strings can be dangerous for kittens. When we’re not playing with the fish, they live in a cabinet that we can’t get into. We would play with the fish for 6 hours straight, if we could! All in all, we couldn’t be happier (unless Mommy decided to give us wet food 10 times per day). We know that Mommy loves us and can’t get enough of us.

We also know that when she is tired or sad, all we have to do is sit on her and cuddle and she’ll be better in no time. We are so grateful to be PAWS cats, because we know that we’ll always be in great hands. Thank you for saving our lives and giving us such a wonderful home.

Love,
Carlo (Big Roy/Snowball) and Cecilia

P.S. We are very camera shy, but we hope you like the recent picture that Mommy took while we were playing with the fish.
