To adopt a cat from PAWS Chicago
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a form of identification (license or state ID)
- Verify that you are allowed to have a cat where you currently live.
- Be able to spend the time and resources necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for your cat.
- Bring along all family members (including children) to meet the cats.
- Understand that our adoption fee is $100.00 per cat/kitten or $150.00 for 2 cats/kittens adopted together.
- Be able to take the cat home on the day of adoption.
- Have the time to spend up to an hour with an adoption counselor to discuss the responsibility of owning a cat and making it a lifetime commitment.
To adopt a dog from PAWS Chicago
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a form of identification (license or state ID)
- Verify that you are allowed to have a pet of the breed and size where you currently live.
- Be able to spend the time and resources necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for your pet.
- Bring along all family members including any resident dogs or children for an introduction to a new dog.
- Understand that our adoption fee is $205.00 for adult dogs (7 months and older) and $275.00 for puppies (under 6 months). You will have four months from the date of the adoption to complete a basic obedience class with your new puppy/dog. When you provide proof that your PAWS dog has completed a course, we will reimburse you $75 of the fee you submitted at the time of adoption.

All PAWS Chicago dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up-to-date on shots based on age and arrival date.
