The All Star Adopt-a-Thon
Major League All Star pitcher Ted Lilly and veterinarian Tasha Lilly are launching the first ever PAWS Chicago All Star Adopt-a-Thon on July 16-23, 2010! Ted, Tasha, John & Karey Grabow, Ryan & Johnnah Theriot, Xavier & Meredith Nady, Koyie & Meghan Hill, and other Chicago All Stars including Randy Wells, Ryan Dempster and Andrew Cashner will be make special volunteer appearances throughout the week-long event.
The All Star Adopt-a-Thon is aimed at saving more homeless pets by encouraging adoption from animal shelters. Nearly 20,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Chicago last year. As the largest No Kill shelter in the city, PAWS Chicago is working to build a community where pets are no longer killed because they are homeless.
PAWS Chicago’s Adoption Center will be extending hours until 10:00 p.m. throughout the week to help as many pets as possible make it safely home. On each day of the All Star Adopt-a-Thon, the website and Adoption Center will feature a special group of animals in the Starting Lineup. As pets at the Adoption Center find new homes, PAWS Chicago will be able to take in more homeless dogs and cats, saving more lives. In fact, PAWS Chicago will be taking in extra animals from Chicago Animal Care & Control throughout the week.
Check out this website every day to see the roster of rookies (puppies and kittens) and seasoned veterans looking to share their love with you.
