Intake and Foster Program Support Coordinator

Job Summary
The role of the Intake & Foster Program Support Coordinator is to manage the Owner Relinquishment Partnering Program and support the Foster Program. The Owner Relinquishment Partnering program is the admissions program associated with the public as well as the Crisis Care Program. The role would also support the foster program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Main Interface with the pet owners that need to relinquish their pet or utilize our Crisis Care Program. This includes responding to and managing the request for relinquishments via the website, phone, or email.
  • Working with Owners by listening and being sensitive to their situation and see if we can provide them with alternative resources that would enable the pet to stay in their home.
  • Scheduling the admission of canines & felines into the PAWS Chicago Adoption Program based on the goals, resources, and policies of the organization.
  • Understanding the resources of the organization at a given time, so intake is in alignment with the organizational resources (capacity, medical, behavior, age) and needs.
  • Scheduling the Intake from the Owner Relinquishment Partnering Program based on the available capacity.
  • Documenting the background history or stories of the animals for marketing purposes.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the animal file as a result of the intake process.
  • The ability to make rational decisions in an emotional environment / situation.
  • Integrating volunteers into the Owner Relinquishment Process.
  • Support the Foster Program Coordinator with the scheduling of Foster Appointments, working with Fosters upon the completion of the foster period, and responding to foster communications.
  • As Needed – Assist with S.A.F.E.R. Testing for Dogs / Degree of Socialization for Cats.

 

Requirements

  • Ability to rationalize when faced with emotional decisions
  • Ability to stay focused on the priorities of the job; strong time management skills with the ability to handle numerous responsibilities at once and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work and think independently; proven organization skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to implement proactive solutions
  • Weekend and evening availability
  • Basic understanding of and passion for animal welfare
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Part Time Animal Care Giver (Rescue and Recovery Center)

Playing one of the most crucial roles in the direct care of all PAWS Chicago internal animals, Animal Caregivers are responsible for the daily care and cleaning of all animals housed at PAWS Chicago’s Rescue and Recovery Center. This includes: daily feeding, and cleaning of all animal areas (both dogs and cats). Animal Caregivers must be willing to work closely with all PAWS Chicago team members including the volunteer team. Animal Caregivers are responsible for closely monitoring and following through with the medical and behavior observation logs to ensure each animal is receiving the PAWS Chicago care standard.

  • Must be able to work one weekend day and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs and walk/hold large dogs on outdoor walks and on stairways
  • Driver’s License required
  • Animal handling experience in a shelter environment a plus

Shelter Medicine Vet Tech
Part Time Experienced Vet Tech to assist in animal exams, bloodwork, vaccines, administering medications. Working with DVM and independently. Must have Vet assist or Vet Tech experience. Experienced Relief SX Veterinarian
Flexible schedule, no minimum number of days, usually 7 hr day commence 8:30a on Tues, Wed, Thur or Sun. Spay and neuter cats and dogs, all sizes. Will need to perform 35 sx/day. Permanent Part time and Relief Surgical Prep Vet Tech
Part-time and as-needed basis Vet tech for high volume Spay Neuter Clinic. Experience with preparing animals for surgical suite – Monitor animal, draw meds, administer meds/vax/chip, shave, and generally prepare animal for surgery. Intubation experience required.
